Regardless of whether you are looking for a family portrait session, a pre-wedding engagement shoot, a couples session to mark an anniversary, or a high school senior portrait, you may feel a bit overwhelmed by the variety of photography styles and the confusing pricing models.
It’s completely understandable, so let me make things simple: there are basically two types of pricing models for photography: the “sitting fee/purchase decision session” model and the “flat fee model.”/
The “Sitting Fee/Purchase Decision Session” Model
This is a very popular pricing model because the initial fee looks like a great deal, and clients often don’t realize that it’s just a hook. As in all things, you should read the fine print carefully.
The “sitting fee” or “session fee” only covers the photographer’s time during the shoot – nothing else.
After the session, you will receive a proofing gallery and be asked to select the images you would like to have edited; please note that the number of photos may be limited.
Everything else, prints, high-resolution files (“digital collection”), costs extra.
Ultimately, you will end up paying more and receiving less.
Flat fee model and why my Pricing Model Is Different
I don’t believe in upselling or complicated packages. I offer a flat, all-inclusive rate. One number. No surprises.
Whether you’re booking a family session, senior portraits, a couple’s shoot, or individual branding photos, this model applies across the board.
Here’s what’s included in every session:
- A fun (hopefully), stress-free photography session that typically lasts about an hour.
- We can travel to several locations, and if you like, you can change outfits.
- Using my expertise, I select the best images to edit and send you as many high-quality, professionally edited photos as the session yielded. You don’t have to waste time picking out the images to edit.
- All of the photos will be high-resolution, print-ready files.
- No watermarks, no per-image fees, no sales session afterward.
- Files delivered via online gallery and can be downloaded individually or all at once.
- And something almost no one else offers: forever storage. If you ever lose your files, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’ll resend them at no additional cost.
In Short
I created the flat fee pricing model because that’s what I would want if I were hiring a photographer: a transparent, fair, and complete price, and of course, some fantastic photos.
